Terms of Service
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to ToRoute (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of www.toroute.com and all of its calculators, articles, and content (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
What ToRoute Is — and Isn’t
ToRoute is an independent, ad-supported site about navigation and route planning. Its calculators produce educational estimatesfrom the coordinates and figures you enter and standard formulas — great-circle distance between coordinates, initial bearing, coordinate conversion between decimal degrees and DMS, estimated journey time and arrival, fuel cost for a route, and the geographic midpoint of two points. These estimates model the Earth as a sphere and are general information only. ToRoute is not a mapping authority, a surveyor, a hydrographic office, or a device manufacturer, and using the Service does not create any professional relationship. For navigation where safety depends on it, an official chart and a calibrated, certified system are the authority.
Use the Estimates as a Starting Point
Real journeys behave differently from an idealized formula. A great-circle distance is the straight-line shortest path over a sphere, not the length of any road, trail, or shipping route; a bearing here is measured from true north and ignores magnetic declination; a coordinate is only meaningful against the right map datum; and journey time and fuel cost depend on traffic, terrain, weather, and how you actually drive. Treat every result as a figure to understand your options and sanity-check a plan — not as a guaranteed outcome — and confirm positions and routes against an official chart, map, or device before you rely on them.
The Calculators
The Service currently includes:
- Distance Between Coordinates (Haversine)
- Initial Bearing & Heading Calculator
- Coordinate Converter (Decimal ↔ DMS)
- ETA & Journey-Time Calculator
- Fuel Cost Calculator for a Route
- Geographic Midpoint Calculator, plus articles and guides on navigation
All tools are free and run entirely in your browser. We may add, change, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
Acceptable Use
By using ToRoute you agree to:
- Use the tools for your own legitimate, personal or professional work
- Not disrupt, overload, or attempt to compromise the site
- Not scrape or use automated systems to access the tools excessively
- Respect intellectual-property rights and applicable law
Not for Safety-Critical Navigation
You agree not to rely on the Service as a primary means of navigation where safety depends on it, including navigation at sea or in the air, surveying, or emergencies. For those uses, rely on official, current charts, calibrated instruments, and certified navigation systems, and follow the relevant authority’s guidance.
Intellectual Property
The site’s text, layout, calculators, and code are the property of ToRoute or its licensors and are protected by copyright. Where an article draws on openly licensed reference material, that material remains under its own licence. You may use the tools for personal, non-commercial purposes; you may not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the site’s software or remove its notices.
No Warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We aim for correct formulas and sensible defaults, but we do not warrant that results are error-free, complete, or suitable for your specific position, route, or journey, or that the site will always be available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToRoute and its suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including a wrong turn, a missed connection, a miscalculated fuel budget, or a navigation error — that arise from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. You are responsible for confirming positions, distances, bearings, and routes against official sources before relying on the results.
Third-Party Links & Ads
The site displays third-party advertising (including Google AdSense) and may link to third-party retailers or resources, including affiliate links through the Amazon Associates programme. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for their content, prices, or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Use them at your own risk and review their terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of its competent courts for any dispute arising from the Service.
