General Disclaimer

The information provided by ToRoute (“https://www.toroute.com”) is for general informational and educational purposes only. We share it in good faith, but we make no warranty of any kind about the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of anything on the site for your particular position, route, vehicle, or journey.

Any use of the calculators and content is at your own risk. It is your responsibility to confirm that a result fits your specific circumstances — against an official chart, map, or device — before you rely on it.

Estimates, Not Survey-Grade Measurements

ToRoute’s tools produce educational estimates from the coordinates and figures you enter and standard formulas. They model the Earth as a sphere and are not professional surveying, navigation, marine, aviation, or safety advice, and they do not replace an official chart, a calibrated instrument, or a certified positioning system. The formulas compute on paper; a real journey involves roads, terrain, traffic, weather, currents, and magnetic variation that the numbers here do not capture. Before you rely on a distance, a bearing, a coordinate, an arrival time, or a fuel figure for anything that matters, check it against the appropriate authoritative source.

Not for Safety-Critical Navigation

Do not use ToRoute as a primary means of navigation where safety depends on it. For navigation at sea or in the air, for surveying, or in an emergency, rely on official, up-to-date charts, properly calibrated instruments, and certified navigation systems, and follow the guidance of the relevant authority. Great-circle distances and bearings from this site are planning references, not a substitute for a proper passage plan or route plan.

Why Results Vary

Actual outcomes can differ from an estimate because of:

A Note on Coordinates and Datums

A latitude and longitude only pin down a point once you know which datum it refers to. Most consumer GPS and map apps use WGS 84, but charts and older references may use a different datum, and the same coordinate can land tens or even hundreds of metres apart between them. ToRoute’s tools do the geometry but make no assumption about your datum, so confirm that the coordinates you enter and the map you plot them on share one before you rely on a position.
